KolKol is Calling | Cabin Getaway

KolKol Mountain Lodge is a rustic getaway offering unique accommodation on the Van der Stel Pass near Bot River. Set in a tranquil and peaceful environment with sweeping views of the Babilonstoren Mountains as well as the fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom, this self-catering accommodation offers the perfect breakaway for couples, family and friends.

Our experience:

The excitement took over before we even booked our stay, following feedback from friends and family raving about this gem of a getaway a mere hour outside of Cape Town. However we were left a tad disappointed when we found out the next available date for any of the cottages was over 6 months away, nonetheless we both booked in our stay for a romantic little getaway.

We had high expectations and when arriving at the quaint little cottage in the Overberg we knew we were in for a memorable stay! The Canadian style log cabins are beautiful offering instant relaxation and endless mountain views. We advise you book your stay in advance and embrace your trip as an opportunity to escape technology, cook up a feast and pair every dish (even breakie) with some wine while roaming around kaalgat and embracing the natural beauty surrounding you.

To add to your unique stay at KolKol, each cabin has a private wood-fired hot tub, which we took full advantage of, taking a dip every few hours and ending off each evening sunset gazing with vino in hand. From cuddling in front of the stone fireplace and catching up on quality reading time to mountain biking, hiking, bubble bathing and red wine drinking – time truly stands still and life is put in perspective when booking your stay at this little haven away from home.

Bonus:

It’s a quick drive from Cape Town and the cottages offer a sufficient supply of wood along with basics like blitz, matches, eggs, rusks, coffee, tea, sugar, milk and butter. Kolkol is also located close to Hermanus and wine farms should you feel like exploring and heading out for lunch.
