Ever since our first encounter with MoonBean macaroons, we’ve been somewhat addicted… to say the least! We’ve even gone to great lengths to keep these moreish munchies a secret, ensuring our favourite double chocolate flavour didn’t sell out! Well, that didn’t quite work out as planned. Word on the street spread fast and these tasty (healthy) treats, which launched last year are flying off the shelves!
We couldn’t believe that raw, dairy-free, gluten-free treats could taste this good! We thought our taste buds may have been tampered with following all our wheatgrass shots, so we force-fed the extremely critical husbands and friends for the true test and were not surprised that they too loved the products.
We got to meet the masterminds behind the healthy macaroons and grawnola and were in awe of the romantic story of humble beginnings of the passionate creators and couple, Dean and Antoinette.
We wanted to hear more about how they managed to create the best tasting, most nutrient-dense snacks for everyone to enjoy, despite any dietary restriction or choice. The successful 26 year olds share some insight as to why they launched MoonBean and what nutritional benefits their products offer:
“The brand is about abundant living, and providing anyone with any dietary restriction access to delicious, satisfying snacks. We want to breakdown the perception that anything healthy tastes like cardboard.”
We gravitated towards the name MoonBean as it’s a distinctive word and not something tangible, allowing us to be free to create our own meaning and connotations to the word and really build a brand that people would immediately think of when they hear the name.
From the outset our mission has been to create the tastiest snacks around that happen to be healthy, because the last thing we want is for people to think that they are restricting and sacrificing good food in the name of health.
One of our proudest moments to date was when we moved into our little factory last year and hired our first two staff members, who we now could not imagine life without! We have really become like a little MoonBean family, and we are so fortunate to be able to work in such a positive and supportive environment.
We source mostly local and organic ingredients from the best suppliers we can find and really try to respect the integrity of each and every ingredient we use, which is why we have chosen to keep our macaroons and grawnolas raw, so we’re not diminishing their nutritional value by baking them.
All MoonBean products are raw, balanced and nutritionally dense. Each ingredient used has some sort of function and no cheap fillers or ingredients without nutritional benefits are used.
