Look Good Feel Better

Looking Good can make you Feel Better

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month has come to an end, we wanted to reflect and share some inspiration from one of our favourite charities, Look Good Feel Better (LGFB). LGFB is a non-profit organisation that holds workshops for cancer patients around the country, showing them how to address the appearance-related side effects of treatment in a positive and practical way.

LGFB regional coordinator, Helen Ohlhoff, shared a beautiful quote on what it means to her, being part of the international foundation, “The purpose of life is not only to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Marisa is going on her third year volunteering for the organisation, helping out at the Rondebosch Medical Centre where they conduct workshops for women going through treatment, sharing beauty tips and application advice, reminding them how beautiful they still are.

“The organisation is a global initiative driven by women who truly want to make an impact – it’s not purely appearance driven, there are so many other educational aspects that LGFB touch on, spreading positivity and hope amongst women who are going through a very challenging time in their lives. It has been an honour working with such incredibly inspiring, strong women who remind us just how priceless the gift of time is, ” says Marisa

During October and throughout November, the LGFB volunteers are speaking about how their work helps cancer patients to care for their skin – the largest organ in the body, which is in a vulnerable state during cancer treatment due to the skin’s rapidly dividing cells. Here is a clip if you want to know more about LGFB and skincare to share with a friend or loved one currently going through Cancer treatment:
