Become a Barre Body Babe

Barre Body is an athletic fusion of ballet strengthening, Pilates, light weights and cardio that will have you in the best shape of your life! (Hmm…quite a bold claim). Founded by husband-wife team, Jessika Munnell and Andy Gowans, Barre Body offers nutrition products and fitness services dedicated to promoting optimal wellness.

Our experience:

Lets just say we didn’t look pretty walking out of that class that fine Thursday eve. Sweaty, red faced and hanking, we knew we had a found a winner! Don’t be fooled by the name though, this is ballet at its best.

The barre training concept is trending hugely internationally at the moment. Falling into the top 10 fitness trends of 2015. We would describe it as a fusion of aerobics, cardio training, strengthening with a touch of ballet (more like barre work) so no need for prior ballet experience. The studio is funky, modern and chic with a vibey, laid back, friendly atmosphere. As soon as you walk into the studio you are greeted by your friendly instructor (Elizabeth lead our class), whilst the latest tunes play in the background getting you pumped and inspired to get your sweat on. The class might be a little challenging for first timers but there is no pressure to complete every exercise. We absolutely loved this class and rate it one of our best so far.

Barre Bodies definitely appeal to the ladies with their beautiful, well maintained studios and top-notch equipment. They even offer a snazzy membership facility, which allows students to swipe their card at each session.

Bonus:

Barre Body makes organic plant based nutritional shakes that are pure goodness. Their superfood shakes replace supplements and food, satisfy hunger and cravings, ideal for vegans, gluten sensitive and sports peeps. Their locations are also great, with their Green Point studio based next to Woolies, Nu and Osumo – convenient to pop in for a quick grocery shop or to grab a healthy meal and freshly squeezed juice/smoothie.
